What's your business, and who are your customers?
Talya Herbal is a dream coming along! We focus on nature’s offerings and make them available for end-users with state-of-the-art processes and care. We are producing and manufacturing pure essential oils, fixed oils, extracts, and supplements for those who love themselves. We believe in self-love, the primary key to a healthy lifestyle. It is also the responsibility and respect that any soul owes back to whom gave birth and raised that individual. With this philosophy, Talya Herbal was established in the heart of six floristic kingdoms right on the Mediterranean in 2003. Since then, become a leader company in the industry and has crossed borders to 30 countries worldwide. We offer more than 225 finished products, private labeling, and bulk manufacturing for the sector. We opened our doors to the US market in 2016 with 41 exceptional products and growing extensively and proudly representing the Talya brand to our customers.
Tell us about yourself
I was born and raised in a city called Antalya in Southern Turkey. I have a Sport Management degree and received my MSc in Phytotherapy. Living a healthy lifestyle has always been vital for me. Using plants and herbs is not only part of our Turkish cuisine culture but also part of our daily routine as a cream, remedy, or even as a medicine sometimes.
We are lucky because Antalya is right in the heart of the Mediterranean coast, and nature offers its very best in that region. For instance, the world’s 68% of oregano products come from our area. In mythology, Zeus’s power, Cleopatra’s beauty, and many more characters for millions of years benefitted from these plants.
We can easily access all these plants and producers. As we realized more and more every day that people go back to nature and benefit from our products, we decided to share them with the rest of the world. Knowing that I can reach out to more people and introduce Talya to them is my main drive to come to work every day!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I started this business at a very young age, and now I have a big family. My Talya Family is a bunch of exceptional believers in the same dream. It works very hard to accomplish our goals. I couldn’t be prouder.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I find sustainability and giving back to nature, what we take away, is the hardest. Collecting plants in the wilds and offering them in the possible natural form is already tough to accomplish but not enough to be successful and keep the engine running if to say. We hold ourselves responsible and respect the environment by initiating and working through organizations and farmers for sustainability. We constantly try our best to give back to nature.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- The very first one is to love themselves!
- Dream! Must have a dream and believe in that for sure.
- Start working from the very bottom, do all the basics at least for three years or until you learn what employees would be doing when they are hired.
- Create a network of your own and be humble.
Perseverance and persistence. - Never give up.
- Always keep the big picture in mind.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
At Talya, we are very serious about what we manufacture and how we manufacture. We don’t use any shortcut chemicals and synthetics or harmful ingredients. We never manufacture anything that we would not use for ourselves and our loved ones. Because we love ourselves, we are proud and happy to carry that love and respect to others.
