Tell us about yourself
I am originally from a tiny beautiful country, Bangladesh, where I grew up helping my father in our family business. So I guess that's where my entrepreneurial drive comes from. I always knew that I wanted to build something of my own. But, I worked in the corporate world as a Data Analyst for almost seven years in Singapore and Italy before immigrating to Canada in late 2019. Then, the world was hit by COVID, and I went through a tough phase with my mental health taking a toll. My crystals and essential oils have been a great healing companion in providing me the strength to navigate those tough times we all were facing. That's when I felt the need to spread this message so that everybody could experience the healing effects of crystals, candles, and aromatherapy. That's how we came up with crystal-infused aromatherapy candles to help us rediscover our inner strength by bringing balance and stability into our fast-paced lives. Hearing our customers' experiences on how our products have helped bring light, love, and healing into their life just brightens my day and makes all the late nights and early mornings worth it!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I feel my biggest accomplishment as a business owner is the small community that we have been able to build of amazingly strong women and how we were able to help them prioritize and make time for their self-care and happiness and create the life they truly deserve. Also, seeing customers returning back to purchase again always fills my heart with gratitude!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I feel the hardest thing about a business owner is has to wear all the hats in the early stages of the business. Juggling all the tasks can be really overwhelming, and understanding the importance of prioritizing and outsourcing is crucial so that you can focus on tasks that actually matter.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Take the leap of faith and just start! There's no better time than now. Believe in yourself and surround yourself with the right people who will support you along the way.
- Consistency over perfection - Don't be consumed with being perfect all the time. There will be a lot of things you will be trying for the first time. You will make mistakes, learn from them and consistently show up every day no matter what. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the ride!
- Make it about the customer experience - everything else will automatically follow.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Perseverance is the key - Never give up. Remember why you started your business and see how far you have come along.
