What's your business, and who are your customers?
TABBEAU PLACE is an acronym coined from True Glow & Beauty. We provide luxury and premium perfumes that are naturally derived from plant-based Ingredients. We believe in our customer's beauty, health, and confidence! When I launched TABBEAU PLACE in 2021, It was founded, bearing in mind to make premium natural fragrances accessible to everyone without breaking an arm and a leg to purchase one. Our design philosophy is a celebration of men and women of color, incorporating the latest trends in the beauty industry from ethically natural sources. We ensure that all our customers who prioritize and love their perfumes to be long-lasting, healthy, and affordable enjoy the toxic-free and handmade in small batches of perfumes without compromising.
Tell us about yourself
I was born and raised in Nigeria, West Africa. In my whole existence, I have loved chemistry so much that I studied and got degrees respectively in Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, and also Forensic Chemistry. I have always seen myself in labs, so every career path I have chosen has always involved working in a lab /research lab. As a young adult, I have always been intrigued by scents and how they come about. I even had a little vial where I stored a collection of different perfumes I stole from my dad's vanity dresser; as time went by, I started formulating different blends of essential oils and gifting my friends and family with my blends during any holiday season which always leaves them excited and breathtaking whenever they are told its a signature perfume created for them by me. The smile and gratitude they give off motivate me and give me a sense of fulfillment, knowing I was the reason for their smile and boost of their confidence. This passion was how Tabbeauplace was born and created; the rest, they say, is history.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The biggest accomplishment is seeing the value and reason why Tabbeauplace fragrances are created, being appreciated and valued in the marketplace. Restoring people's confidence and smile is our watchword in Tabbeauplace; what more can we ask for when we get reviews like my presence was felt when I walked into a room because of my Tabbeau perfume.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Hardest that comes with being a business owner is responsibilities. Suppose the business goes bad; it's you; if it turns out good, it's you; the same thing for customers, vendors, and even employee satisfaction. I will say it's a big burden for a business owner, and not everyone wants to bear such.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The top 3 tips for me would be to have a very clear and convincing vision of what you want to do; if you don't know where you're going, you don't get anywhere. Secondly, it takes hard work, so it's very imperative to be committed to working very hard. Lastly, to run a growing business, money is and will be needed, so have a plan to secure the funding that will be needed. As blunt as all these sounds, it's the bitter truth to be considered when starting a business.
