What's your business, and who are your customers?
We created an Italian Bakery & Eatery with an assortment of Pastries, Cannolis, and Food. Everything is made in-house from scratch! Our customers could be from an office employee, students to a whole family where they can have a ready meal or a birthday cake or even book an event with Private Chef in House.
Tell us about yourself
I came from Italy, and I came from a family of bakers and started to love this job when I was a teenager. Now, with over 25 years of food business experience in restaurants and bakeries as an Executive Chef, I have unlimited passion and interest in working and trying new recipes, following food trends and discovering new ingredients available in the market.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The best thing being the owner is for me to absolutely feel free to create new dishes and pastries and follow the inspiration day by day without having a feeling to be in a factory.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing be owner could be to manage food and labor costs, manage the emotions to create and develop the business but at the same time you can’t go too far in one day, but be on top of your business every day, every day add a small brick to your construction.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My suggestions before starting, do some research, interview people, chat, listen to what they have in mind. It could be a kind of interest on people, look for a good location if you like to do it in front of your store. Plan your first step. You will need a staff to do that. My tip is always to start with a qualified employee who can help you set the first months of business. Starting in the right way is half of success. The first impression is the base of the future business. Small steps make the company. When the business runs well, you can start to think about which stage could increase your sales. In my business, what I see every day are new ideas. New addition may take 6-8 months to absorb by your staff and customers! Then again… Never all together!!! But at the end of a few years, you can see where the business started and where it is now!
