What's your business, and who are your customers?

Sweet T Picnics is a luxury picnic provider in North Carolina! We set up over-the-top picnic experiences for you and your guests to enjoy! Many people utilize our picnics to celebrate special occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays, baby showers, gender reveals, bridal showers, proposals, and more! We like to say, at Sweet T Picnics, our tea is sweet, but the memories are sweeter.

Tell us about yourself

In August of 2021, I decided to step away from the property management industry, which I had been in for so long. I believe the year 2020 taught everyone a lot about what is important in life, myself included. During the pandemic, I noticed how much I longed to spend time with family and friends, and I truly cherished any chance to get together with them. After leaving my corporate job, I wanted to create a business in which others can have joyful moments with the people they love. So in October of 2021, Sweet T Picnics was born out of the idea of spending time with the ones you cherish while creating sweet memories.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I believe the biggest accomplishment is seeing how fast Sweet T Picnics grew! Within two weeks, we were on ABC's "Localish," which aired nationally. Also, in less than one year, we've received two awards from the BBB: Spark Award & Consumer Choice Award. Plus, most recently, we were featured in an article in The Wall Street Journal. Business is booming, and it definitely took me by surprise!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest part of being a small business owner is wearing so many hats! I quickly became a Marketing Director, Customer Relations Manager, Financial Guru, and many more titles overnight.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Your business will only be as good as hard as you work.
  2. Take risks. I wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't left my stable corporate job and acted on a leap of faith.
  3. Make sure your branding reflects who YOU are.

I couldn't have made Sweet T Picnics what it is without my support group of family, friends, amazing vendors, incredible interns, and an all-around supportive community.
