What's your business, and who are your customers?
Sweet Shots Scented Candles is home to the glow-in-the-dark candles that makes any hour a happy hour. When COVID-19 hindered the world from gathering with friends and families, on April 27, 2021, Sweet Shots Scented Candles lit up the night with fragrances of its favorite drinks to remind them of the time they enjoyed with loved ones. From meeting up with co-workers after work for drinks to meeting the new lives added at a family reunion. Sweet Shots Scented Candle's mission is to make any hour a happy hour for the young and young at heart.
Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, a single mother of 3 kids; I attend Colorado Technical University to receive a Bachelor in Science for Business Administration. Everything I know about running a business is self-taught and my business is self-funded.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I returned to school to receive a bachelor's in science for business administration and achieve my five-year goal of being in a major retail store in less than a year.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Not wanting to give up when no one else believes in you. It is easy to give up and walk away from anything that seems hard. But to keep pushing when you have been denied for every loan and grant you applied for. Or when the ones you think would support you don't show no support.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Never give up on your dreams.
- You will get a lot of "No" before you get a "yes."
- No one has become successful overnight. So be patient.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Pray and ask for the strength to endure all that is about to happen in your life. God has the last say over all things.
