What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a French Patisserie, and our customers are anyone who loves pastries, coffee, and desserts.
Tell us about yourself
We are a third generation of bakers, my dad was a baker, and my grandpa was a baker. My dad opened the first Chinese bakery in Calgary. I graduated from U of A with a major in accounting and obtained my CPA designation. I love French pastries and am an entrepreneur at heart. I love baking and cake decoration and decided to follow my passion.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
To be able to survive through the pandemic.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Working long hours and managing everything that comes with a business. You are the IT, management, marketing, social media, repair person, and human resource.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be financially viable and be able to survive the first two years of business.
Have the support of your family. My husband is my anchor in the business. He is the IT, repair person, backup staff, and delivery person.
Patience and perseverance, hang in there when things are tough, and know when it's time to quit.
