Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in graphic design but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rayna Hernandez, Founder of Studio Rayn, located in Dallas, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a brand designer and strategist who specializes in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands.
Tell us about yourself
I've always loved design and the arts since I was a kid, so I knew I wanted to work doing something creative. I will say I took a hit from having motivation after a year of the pandemic, but I am trying to get my motivation back by realizing that God gave me gifts to use, and I need to use them to serve others; that is my calling.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I think my biggest accomplishment has been being asked to speak at a Design College. I love pouring out my experience and knowledge to others who remind me of myself at a younger age.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I think it can be hard to turn off your business hat in personal settings, and it also is hard when you don't want to talk business, and you are in a personal setting. It's not like 9-5, where you can just turn it off and be done with it for the day/weekend. Your mind is always churning.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be ready to make sacrifices.
- Give yourself that time to rest and step away from your computer to move.
- Be prepared for a lot of rejection but also be prepared for sweet victories.
