Advancing the global movement of sustainability - StrawFish

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Aaron Kleinert, founder of StrawFish, located in Boca Raton, FL.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

StrawFish was founded in South Florida developing biodegradable disposable products that bridge consciousness and consumption to highlight the impact our decisions have on the environment.

Restaurants, hotels, cruises and event venues (just to name a few) are struggling to source honest, affordable solutions to single-use plastics as global supply chains have come grinding to a halt.

StrawFish's efforts are rooted in providing everyone the opportunity to actively partake in the global movement of sustainability, utilizing natural alternatives that don't ultimately affect our experience (if it's dining, socially, or beyond); we all know the paper straw dilemma.

To date, StrawFish's 100% biodegradable foodservice disposables are available in Sysco, Gordon Food Service (GFS), Performance Food Group (PFG) and US Foods; if product is not stocked in your region, it can be very quickly!

With major QSR, Hospitality & Cruise partners already onboard, StrawFish is very excited to kick off the new year with hopes of driving tangible ROI for a Company investing into vetted solutions.

#YourCompanyOurPlanet

Tell us about yourself

StrawFish was founded in 2019 in South Florida when three college friends came together to help businesses in the local community source single-use plastic alternatives.

As three "twenty-somethings", we strive to change the way the foodservice industry looks at sourcing by bringing positive energy, honesty and collaboration into the space.

The goal is the same for many, advancing the global movement of sustainability!

While motivation stems from the intrinsic pursuit of entrepreneurship, the desire to leave the planet better for future generations beyond our time is a major driving force. We all have the opportunity to leave our mark, so it is up to each and every one of us to do "good" no matter the industry, product or service.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Seeing businesses in the U.S. and abroad utilize our product(s) as the physical manifestation of hard-work and resiliency, especially as a startup that had to navigate a global pandemic.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Patience & Gratitude:

Being present in every moment while learning from the past and planning for the future. The responsibility is 100% yours, from the tough conversations to the drawn-out victories.

Remember to celebrate the little things and keep the doors open to collaboration.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Don't lose sight of morality in business; being a "good" person and doing "good" by and for others will pay dividends in the long run.

2. Constantly observe the world around you, and see where your passions may align with pain-points for yourself and others.

3. Don't be scared to try something out, the worst that can happen is you fail forward.
