Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Arte Nathan, President and Partner of Strategic Development Worldwide, located in Las Vegas, NV, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are an online advisory services business providing coaching, insight, assessments, and training to companies worldwide.
Tell us about yourself
I have a degree in Human Resources from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. I was Chief Human Resources Office for a multi-national gaming company and, after retirement, began consulting full time. I recently founded an online training company called Tiny Classroom Training and write a daily motivational blog.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
In the gaming industry, I succeeded in developing landmark collective bargaining agreements and technology systems. In consulting, we promote the concept of effectiveness as a measure of overall performance. And as a trainer, we have developed unique online short format learning modules for managers and supervisors.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Fighting to stay current and relevant. And keeping yourself motivated.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Stay true to your idea - if you've done your homework, don't listen to everyone else's opinion.
- Find a mentor and let them inspire you.
- Inspire your team to achieve excellence.
