Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Steph Tuss, CEO of Life Is Now, Inc., located in Mooresville, NC, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are Life Is Now, Inc. We are business consultants specializing in the psychology and skill sets required for a small business to scale. We work with successful small business owners who have built their businesses and now know they need a different mindset and skillset to take their business to 8-figures and beyond.
Tell us about yourself
I founded my first business in 2007. Due to my experience with a sick child, and my subsequent research into her illness, I became driven to share my knowledge with other parents who may have been struggling with the same issues we experienced. I opened a Holistic nutrition practice and grew it very quickly. Within a couple of years, I fell deeply in love with entrepreneurship and business strategy. This prompted me to sell my business and join Life Is Now, Inc to help other entrepreneurs help more people. My motivation comes from a deep belief in people and possibility. I know that every business owner I help will then go on to help all they touch. It's a win-win that I'm passionate about.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as CEO of Life Is Now is the creation of our team. I'm very proud that we have an incredible team all dedicated to our vision and core values and that each of them is an expert in their own right.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I think most people would say that the hardest thing about being a business owner is trusting others. Delegation requires trust; debate requires trust, honesty requires trust, and innovation requires trust that mistakes are necessary. No matter what, you can trust that everything will be ok.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure you have a clear 3-year vision.
- Hire an assistant as soon as possible... there's nothing that stalls a business more than when an owner spends all their time doing 10-12 dollar tasks rather than working in their genius developing the business.
- Always ask, "Who, not how?" Meaning you do not need to figure everything out for yourself. Leverage someone else's experience and knowledge, and you'll grow quickly.
