Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stefanie & Caleb Rouse, relationship coaches based in Pittsburgh, PA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an author, digital creator, and relationship coach. I coach single men on how to prepare themselves for a thriving marriage one day. My goal is to help them learn to love themselves, others, and God more through my courses, content, and daily encouragement. My wife and I also coach couples who are dating, engaged, or married to help them thrive in these seasons of their relationships.
Tell us about yourself
I have my Masters's Degree in Education. I was a teacher for ten years before I decided to go full-time to help people online in their relationships. My wife and I started to share our stories, our struggles, and our travels online through social media six years ago. And since then, we have developed our online presence into a business that helps people thrive in singleness, dating relationships, engagement, and in marriage.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has not only been in seeing my clients' lives changed daily through working with me but also in securing two publishing deals for books. One, which was published last year, is called "A year of Prayer" and is available on Amazon, Target, Barnes and Noble, etc. Our second book, which we are currently writing together, is set to be published the next year.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner does not have a reliable paycheck. So you have to be creative about how you set up your business so that you can do what you love and get paid for it. I left teaching and a good salary to go online, and I haven't looked back since because of my love for people, for relationships, and the impact I get to make online each day which allows me to share my faith and passions.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I would say you should find something you love doing and a unique way that you can help others do the same. Nowadays, personal branding is so important, so for me, it was about sharing my story, so if you have a way that you can share your story in starting a business and helping otters in the process, you have already won. And lastly, make sure that what you are doing is always leading back to sales, building a list, or paying you. Don't get caught up in working for free, you have a unique set of skills, and you should be paid for it. Know your worth and charge for that. Then, work hard to overdeliver on your promise.
