What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business is Stacy K Floral Inc. We are here for anyone that wants to spread joy through flowers. We make life's special moments highlighted with flowers. We love what we do each day!!!

Tell us about yourself

I personally fell into the world of horticulture at a young age. My first job was at a greenhouse center, and the rest was history. I love that what we do each day brings joy to others. Flowers are healing and mood-lifting. It's something special to create things with your hands that can do that for others each and every day. Weddings and events are our specialties, and creating events that inspire is what we strive to do each and every time.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Taking my little dream of being a self-employed florist and working in my apartment to having over employees and a well-known and respected business in our community.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The idea is that you will do your craft when a business owner in the arts. Over the years, I have had to take on more of an owner-operator role as we have grown and don't get to touch the flowers as much as I used to, but I'm building a great team of others that do, and we are spreading the joy further, so it's all worth it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get some courses or a degree in Business administration. It has been so valuable that I waited and did that first. It's one thing to be great at your craft but another to operate a company in a successful way.
  2. Know your worth. I often see new businesses say their competition is too expensive. That devalues your product and does not help you sell yourself or set you up for success.
  3. Have a great support team around you that you can lean on when you hit a bump you are not sure to handle along the way. Make friends and relationships where you can troubleshoot problems together.
