What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Springfield Dance, and I motivate and inspire our students to become successful individuals.
Tell us about yourself
As a child, I was a dancer, and I always wanted to be a teacher. I would teach kids in the neighborhood, and as I got older, I started teaching for a dance studio. When the opportunity to purchase a local studio presented itself, I jumped at the chance.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a studio owner has been putting 85 children on the stage doing a major production. Seeing them express themselves and watching them do something they love is so inspirational.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being the one in charge of all the decisions can sometimes be stressful, but as someone who thrives under pressure, I do love the challenge and the end result of success.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Have patience with yourself. It takes time, and it takes a lot of work. You have to be willing to really put yourself out there and keep going when you hit a roadblock.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
It is such an honor to be a business owner. I have been the CEO of my business since 1996, and it has been a major accomplishment. I set my own schedule and am able to be my own boss. My business now supports my whole family, and I am so proud of where we have come.
