For busy families craving healthy dinners - Spitfire Gourmet
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Holly George, founder of Spitfire Gourmet, located in Ashland, WI.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Spitfire Gourmet was crafted for busy families craving healthy dinners. Our seasoning packs come in 3 fantastic flavors, and each one can be rubbed on any meats, shaken with oil + vinegar for easy marinades, or dumped into one of our many 3-step recipes. Main dishes, one-dish dinners, pastas, soups and sides, all our recipes have gourmet tips and wine pairings. All our seasonings are No-MSG and free from any bad stuff. And 10% of our sales is donated to wildlife conservation.
Tell us about yourself
I've been a marketing expert for 30 years and always wanted a "widget," a tangible product. I LOVE pouring my wine and cooking for hours, but I know not everyone has the time or desire. I do know that most Americans want to eat healthy and gourmet, so I make this easy.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating systems to make everything from marketing to order fulfillment easy.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Every decision falls on you, so it's hard to take a vacation.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
1. Make sure it can fund itself or get to that point quickly.
2. Hire good people to do the things you don't want to learn or do.
3. Don't overthink, or you'll never get off the ground. Send good enough out the door, and keep improving.
