What's your business, and who are your customers?

Self-Reflect... Correct... Grow! Speaking Queen Services is a small business that provides direct services to Organizations( Workshops, Training, Luncheons, Events, etc.) and Individuals( Life Coaching, Advocacy, Community-based Programs, Recovery Services, Virtual Support Groups, etc.). Speaking Queen Services is all about the Physical, Spiritual, and Emotional Wellness! Whether directly or through Community Partners. S.Q.S is all about helping others help themselves. With that in mind, the goal is to help clients obtain long-term stability to prevent dependency on using services similar to S.Q.S. Speaking Queen Services has transformed into a Marketplace Ministry since its official launch in 2016. Spiritual Foundation in Christ is the CORE to what S.Q.S is all about!

Tell us about yourself

Speaking Queen Services is something that has been in my heart since I was a teenager. I have always had a passion for the Community and helping others. I didn't think that my own personal struggles would be the core services and programs of S.Q.S, but it is a BLESSING to be able to transform life lessons into tools and skills to help clients who struggle in life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner would be my first eBook series on Amazon(Masked Wounds). It's one thing to tell clients that you can relate; it's another to be able to put a lot of "unresolved wounds" and life lessons into another form of creative expression! I just recently became an ordained and Licensed Minister and started the Ministry part of the business in January of 2023!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being consistent! I am going into my seventh year this summer, and I have wanted to quit a few times. I would say that my Spiritual Foundation has helped me tremendously to get over those hurdles, especially when organizations wouldn't respond in my first few years of service.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. A Mentor is a must! No one is perfect; whether they have a partner or a team, you always need someone to hold you accountable and keep some ideas realistic.
  2. Tap into your Spiritual Foundation! There are ups and down's in this game
    and you need a solid foundation to keep you humble and moving forward during the lows.
  3. Be open to other things! Life happens and can switch directions real quick! (The pandemic, for example), there is no shame in going back to school for a major of interest. Or community education courses. We are human, and if you are doing things correctly, we evolve! So don't be ashamed if interests change or business plans reflect something different than the original. The point and goal are to take the chance regardless of the pushback from others; a lot of people don't have the courage to step out and do something they are actually passionate about. It's not about making millions. It's about being in our purpose and creating a life that makes a positive impact.
