Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Adam Hartung, Owner of Spark Partners, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our clients learn how to plan FOR THE FUTURE, rather than planning from the past. We utilize trends analysis to develop future scenarios allowing clients to become leaders rather than followers, growing revenue, profits, and valuation. Our clients come from all industries, and all countries, because trends affect everyone, everywhere, and require agile strategies.

Tell us about yourself

I love business strategy. Harvard Business School and Boston Consulting Group alum. I am excited every day by new technologies, new capabilities, new business models, and new ways to deliver value to customers. Figuring out how to do the next thing for customers keeps me excited and looking forward to every project.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Better insight leading to better strategy has allowed me to add billions of dollars in revenue, margin, and valuation to dozens of companies. Being able to grow revenues by multiples, not just percentages, has allowed clients to enrich their lives and the lives of investors, employees, suppliers, customers, and communities.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Always looking for new clients.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be ready to sell, sell and never stop selling.
  2. Make sure you have enough money to survive a year or two, building your revenue stream.
  3. Never forget that the best place to find a helping hand is at the end of your own arm.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you want control of your life and your wealth, you have to work for - and rely on - yourself.
