Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kristin Lemaster, Founder of Soulful Navigation®, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help people find more ease and fulfillment in their lives by working with their life force energy and the nourishing universal and earth energies that flow around us all. Many people who work with me feel stuck in their life, either because of a health issue, a relationship, their career, or just generally feel stagnant and like they are meant for more. We work together to use their energy and the energies around us to create their best life. It's amazing what can unfold!
Tell us about yourself
I'm an energy medicine practitioner and am trained in an embarrassing number of modalities. In my first act in life, I was a scientist and an engineer, and I started studying the science of energy medicine for more than 20 years. I love exploring evidence-based energy programs and integrating them into my life to test what works well. I offer customized healing sessions, but I also love to teach. I'm currently a teaching assistant at the Academy of Intuition Medicine®, and I also crafted my own courses and challenges to help people create their lives with their energy. The thing that both motivates and scares me a little about my work is that you can't predict what exactly will unfold. The uncertainty is a little nerve-wracking but watching people change their lives with their energy is astounding.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Honestly, my biggest accomplishment is watching my clients and students have their big "aha!" moments. It's incredibly satisfying when things align, and their lives start to fall into place. It never gets old.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The most challenging part of my business is managing social media. It can be tricky to keep up to date with the latest trends and algorithms without losing touch with my main motivation, which is to come from a place of service. Being business-savvy while serving others with integrity can sometimes be in conflict. Keeping that balance requires a lot of creative thinking and courage to break away from the social media "pack" when appropriate.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First, deepen your connection to your energy and the energy of the business that you are trying to create and grow. There is so much wisdom in our energy that we can access that can help us to grow our businesses. Second, I would recommend building your own to deliver your content. Website and portals are great, but most people want easy access to you and your services on their phones or tablets. Third, find a community that offers support for entrepreneurs. It can be lonely out there, but we don't have to do it alone. Being part of a community of people building their own businesses was one of the best decisions I've made.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
If you're currently struggling with your business or feel lost or overwhelmed, hang in there. I wanted to quit countless times. And, I was often consumed with thoughts and feelings that nobody was interested in what I had to offer. Don't be afraid to face your fears and work through them - it is worth it when you see how well you are able to help people.
