What's your business, and who are your customers?
Soulex is a luxurious and state-of-the-art floating studio in downtown Washington DC. We are dedicated to providing a space for deep meditation and stress reduction, which enables you to achieve a balanced life. As a holistic health advocate, I have dedicated my life to serving people who suffer from chronic pain and offering professionals stress relief.

The impetus for opening Soulex was born out of a passion for reducing and even eliminating this overwhelming amount of stress we face on a daily basis, and floatation is the best remedy for that.
The idea of creating a floatation studio was sparked in me during my six years of being a stay-at-home mom and realizing the significance of and the rewards in helping and serving others. When I discovered floating for the first time in 2014, I was immediately drawn to the effectiveness of floatation therapy - a natural, simple and effortless way to achieve a deep state of rejuvenation and peace. After a few sessions, I realized the experience was illuminating and life-changing. The decision was then made that I would make this magical therapy available to all in the Washington, DC metro area.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Helping people to improve their lives. Seeing them happy and at peace. It’s rewarding to create the culture of my own organization, which has always been a positive, healing, welcoming, and growing environment whether for clients or employees, building a team and watching it grow. Creating something from scratch and watching it grow is as loving and rewarding as a mother cares for her child.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
My biggest challenge sometimes is trusting my own intuition and gaining the confidence that I can do this! As a stay-at-home mom away from the workplace for several years, it took a lot of courage and hard work to start a new endeavor without any background in business.
Entrepreneurship is risky and entails unforeseen circumstances. No one goes into business with a guarantee of success. Fear of the known and the unknown is a major issue, especially for women in business. We dread failing, especially if the people around us are skeptical of our capabilities in business. This fear is toxic!
The challenge of managing family and business for women is common. It has been quite challenging for me to juggle official duties with the demands of a family and balancing responsibilities.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Stop worrying! Trust the process.
- Preserver and Never give up.
- Always have fun and enjoy yourself! Everything will work out just fine.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I truly believe in serving people and offering the best experience for them, no matter the nature of the service or product offered. Focus on community involvement and have a dedicated following, which can create a ripple effect.
