Personalized Printables - Soul To Soul With Carol

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Carol Lawrence, Founder of Soul To Soul With Carol, located in Missoula, MT, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Soul To Soul With Carol - I sell numerous printables for homeschooling, conscious parenting, homesteading, organizing, chore charts, and more! My favorite is my screen time checklist. Kids and adults are bombarded by technology these days. It's almost as if kids expect to be able to play on their tablets or watch an abundance of TV. As an Intentional Conscious Parenting co-author/blogger, I feel it's important to encourage children to earn screen time by spending time being creative, doing their chores, being kind, getting exercise, and brushing their teeth. The screen time checklists are fun and a great way to begin teaching about responsibility and choices. Instead of buying a whole workbook or coloring book, parents can pick out individual printables. They can purchase, download and print one or multiple copies. Unicorns are a favorite at my house with my granddaughters, so I tend to print out my unicorn tracing pages multiple times. I nurture my content management clients through my marketing business, but when I have time, I really love letting my creativity flow by creating an assortment of printables.

Tell us about yourself

I started out in 2009 helping conscious parenting authors and parents connect through my co-authored blog Intentional Conscious Parenting. My bestie Stacy Toten and I have been writing articles and sharing book reviews and author interviews for over ten years. During that time, I also opened my Social Media Help 4 U marketing business. When I first began online, I was just finishing up a job working at a local elementary school. I decided to stay home and homeschool my youngest son through middle school and high school. Fast forward 13 years later, and now I've got three incredible granddaughters who mean the world to me. I began creating coloring pages and homeschooling worksheets, and of course, Stacy and I have our conscious parenting book and guides. This prompted me to open up my Soul To Soul With Carol printable store on Etsy. My store became another way I can support parents during their parenting journey. Creating new printables for the girls and myself usually ends up being shared in my store. I figure if it's something I need, such as my garden companion guide, cleaning charts, or travel games, someone else could probably benefit from them too.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a small business owner is that I've persevered through the ups and downs, zigged when many others were zagging and that I've got to meet so many wonderful people through my business. When I started working online, it wasn't as hip as it is today. I've worked with clients from all over the world through my marketing and content management business and made really fun connections through my parenting endeavors. I'm truly grateful to be able to have the flexibility to work on my terms and schedule.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Personally, because I work from home as a solopreneur, I've had to learn how to manage my time, set good boundaries, and remember to reach out beyond my introverted comfort zone.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Write down all the things you love to do. What are your passions? What lights you up? What creative ideas keep coming to you? Can you turn any of these nudgings into a business, service, or product?
  2. Search out and follow business owners who are doing exactly what you want to get started doing. Watch and learn.
  3. Design your business around your lifestyle. Do you want to work from home? Open a storefront? Work around your kid's schedule? Again, write down what your ideal life looks like. What does it take to create it that way? Put an action plan together and start taking steps to make it happen.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Life is short. It goes by in a flash. Take time to figure out how you really want to live your life. Even if you feel stuck, keep looking for fresh ideas and inspiration to create a better life. You deserve to be happy and content in life. Explore, Think and Feel It Manifesting.
