What's your business, and who are your customers?
SOLEVAR is an international Boutique agency specialized in supporting beauty brands in their worldwide expansion. We specialized in 3 main areas: brand building, business planning, and retailer matchmaking.
Tell us about yourself
For over 15 years, I have worked for major corporations (including L'Oréal, Benefit Cosmetics, Bourjois) while helping start-ups to emerge in new markets (Canada, USA, Europe), Expanding new brands through product development, press, and distribution. Throughout these experiences, I realized that there was a real need for fresh ideas and a personalized approach to coaching brands & founders. Fast forward to today, I built my agency, leveraging my passion for cosmetics and expertise to help brands accelerate.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
There is a true sense of accomplishment when my clients are satisfied and see their business grow thanks to our services and expertise. Overall my biggest accomplishment is to have finally jumped to the entrepreneurial side, listening to what I believe was possible and seeing it being successful.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
There is no right or wrong way when you start your business. I have been working for different companies my whole life, and at first, it was challenging to know where to start and what to do. Nobody was telling me to follow a process anymore. I could make the process. It is incredibly powerful, but it can be overwhelming at times.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Surround yourself with people who believe in entrepreneurship, people that are evolving in this circle, friends, and family can indirectly make you doubt your decisions. Don't forget to take time for yourself; it is exhausting to start your own business. The goal is not to burn out, you need to understand it will take time, and you need to take care of yourself. Find people who support you when you feel down or discouraged; it is okay to feel exhausted and overwhelmed. You need a strong support system to help you in your journey!
