What's your business, and who are your customers?

SOAR Home Care is a home health agency focused on the care of patients recovering from orthopedic surgery. We provide reliable, specialized skilled nursing and physical therapy services to patients in the comfort of their own homes after surgeries such as hip or knee replacement.

Tell us about yourself

I am a Physician Assistant with 13 years of clinical experience in orthopedics. As a provider treating surgical patients in the clinic and assisting in surgeries, I saw a need for expert home health care for our orthopedic patients. Large, corporate home health agencies often have a revolving door of minimally trained and overworked staff seeing all types of patients. SOAR Home Care focuses on orthopedic patients and staffs only highly trained RNs and PTs.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We have been active in business for just over one year; at this point, each month that we successfully fund our payroll and engage new patients is a huge accomplishment!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the most stressful and difficult parts of owning a business is the responsibility I now have for my employees and staff. They come first.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Start with double the funds you anticipate needing! Be prepared to take risks but have at least a basic backup plan for the tough times. Seek out mentors, and don't be afraid to ask questions or admit what you do not know.
