What's your business, and who are your customers?
Slofoodgroup is an online vanilla beans, spice, and specialty ingredient shop. We deliver the world's finest flavors to home cooks, confectionary businesses, and retail establishments across the world.
Tell us about yourself
I used to be a Chef and love food. Understanding where things come from, how they are made and respecting the people and processes involved is paramount to my own success. What motivates me each day is my family, my friends, and my desire to do something more.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being able to help others. Whether it is providing an opportunity for team members domestically or working in some of the world's most remote regions, supporting a family-run farm, women-owned business, or providing resources for water wells, being able to help others is a tremendous accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
It is all pretty hard, honestly. Owning a business means wearing many hats. You are constantly challenged and learning new things that require fairly rapid adaptation. Whether that is forming an LLC or understanding design, marketing, branding, SEO, accounting, and tax, the list is endless about what you need to know. While you do not need to be highly proficient in each of these areas, a general understanding of these areas and more are required to effectively communicate, manage, and excel in almost any business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be consistent.
- Solve problems - anyone can point out a problem.
- Get started - it does not have to be perfect.
