Our team’s expertise in the unique qualities of oak helps architects, interior designers, builders, and their clients realize their visions. All of our oak products are certified to FSC® and PEFC™ standards.

Tell us about yourself

To be able to provide top-quality material and top-quality service under my own leadership. I was already working within the industry, but I felt there were areas that could be improved upon, notably in service and sustainability. I wanted to provide an exceptional level of product quality and customer service -- while still honoring my responsibility to the planet and ensuring that European White Oak will be available for future generations. The best path to these goals was through forming my own company, SIMPLY OAK™. To me, European White Oak flooring is a sexy product.

It’s visually beautiful and tactilely pleasing. To have it underfoot denotes luxury. In Europe, there is a deep, rich history and a love affair with European White Oak. It has a density, stability, and beauty that is superior to other woods. The finest cathedrals and ancient castles were built using this material. European White Oak flooring has always been a luxury market item, but, at the same time, it can also be warm and comforting...many modern homes have European white Oak installed, even the home I grew up in. One of my goals is to offer a greater audience the opportunity to enjoy this pleasure.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

To make the business a success. It is very scary when you go out on your own; you no longer have the security of a paycheck, health insurance, and all the benefits of working for someone. You have to make this company a success; there is no option for failure.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Not knowing when to stop and to take a pause. I am always working and thinking about how we can improve, service our clients better, and continue to gain market shares.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

To do what makes you happy and follow your heart and dreams. Not to let fear stand in your way.
