What's your business, and who are your customers?
My skincare line, Simply Jess Skincare, is an all-natural line developed for clients who are looking for results in their routine and clean ingredients! We have a very modern intelligent female clientele who is educated on harmful chemicals and wants to take time for self-care at the same time.
Tell us about yourself
I have been in the skincare industry for over 20 years and have always loved connecting with people in the treatment room while I help improve their skin. During my time as a national trainer for two big skincare brands, I loved sharing my knowledge and helping others learn more about how to treat their clients' skin. Those two passions are a perfect blend of what I do in my business, creating products that change my clients' skin and help empower them to do the right things for a visible change. Hearing from my clients about how I helped them is my driving force! I love to share what I know and what I am learning in the health and wellness space, so I started my own podcast called, Learning to Glow! The guests I have had so far and those to come are incredible!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating a collection of products that are so effective and all-natural at the same time is my biggest accomplishment. It is so much easier and cheaper to create a product that has questionable ingredients. I feel so proud of what we have created while staying true to our brand promise.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Wearing many hats in a business can be challenging. It is also super rewarding when you can figure something out that isn't in your area of expertise or something you enjoy doing, though!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Ask for support. You can't do it all alone! Take time for rest and recharging, even though it doesn't feel like you should. Celebrate all of the wins, and share your success, even if it feels small!
