Inner Peace and Self-love - Silje's
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Silje Gulbrandsen, a certified yoga teacher and reiki healer based in Moss, Viken, Norway.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I have an online yoga studio with yoga classes, asana tutorials, meditations, healing, breathwork, and other embodiment practices. My customers are mostly women who are looking to reduce their stress levels and find more inner peace. They are usually at a beginner level or intermediate.
Tell us about yourself
In 2017 I got burned out at the age of 26, and because of that, I made some big changes in my life in hopes of getting better. That same year I became a Reiki master, vegan, started with yoga, and ended the year by quitting my job, moving out of my apartment, and going to Asia on a solo trip.
Yoga is a part of my daily routine and has been since 2017. It helps me to balance the energies in my body, and it helps me physically, mentally, and spiritually. My day is not the same without it; this is where I connect and check in with myself.
I'm a certified yoga teacher because I want to share this incredible tool with others. I focus a lot on inner peace and self-love.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My business is a newborn, so my biggest accomplishment so far is that my studio is up and running and has been for two months.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a new business owner, one of the hardest things can be to believe in yourself and your dream when there is no evidence that you will succeed. And to hold yourself in the unknown.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If you have a true desire that you want to start your own business, keep holding that desire and take inspired action. One day you have to take action, or else it will always be just a dream. But try to take action from an inspired place, not from need or fear.
- You don't need to have it all figured out before you begin because it will likely not be like you imagined.
- You also have to be able to hold yourself in the unknown. And owning your own business can be where you need to face your triggers, limiting beliefs, and childhood programming. So be kind to yourself.
- Let go of how it's all going to come together. When we let go, we open up more opportunities and are not forcing it to happen one way.
- Always cover your physical needs first, meaning make sure you have enough money saved up or start your business with a part-time job. Being in a place of need for money will not serve you or your business.
