Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in professional development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dianna Conover, founder of Signature Career Coaching, located in Denver, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Signature Career Coaching was founded on the premise that everyone deserves to find a career they love. In today's job market, there are so many choices, rules, and challenges. My program is designed to help with the entire job search, from helping figure out what you want to do in your career to how to brand yourself and how to actually go find that dream job!

My client is one who is ready to take charge of their career, whether they are only a few years in or nearing retirement. I am a firm believer that there is no wrong time to find a career that makes you happy!

Tell us about yourself

I started my career like most people my age were taught to. Go to school, get a degree, find a job and work your way up. About ten years into my career, I was so unhappy. Through some crazy turn of events, I ended up starting my business and haven't looked back. Connecting with my clients, hearing their stories, and watching them find careers that they love is why I keep doing what I do. I love my clients!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Growing my business out of nothing to a thriving, profitable business! I had no idea what I was doing when I decided to embark on this journey, but I am really proud of all that I have done and built.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Navigating the ups and down of business. Some months are a feast; others are famine. It can be exhausting, especially when you are doing it alone.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your why. If you are disconnected from why you are doing this, those hard moments will break you. You won't want to continue.
  2. Surround yourself with other entrepreneurs and those who are further along than you. You are not going to know everything, and it helps to have a support system to bounce ideas off of and encourage you when you feel down.
  3. Try not to compare yourself to others. I know it's easier said than done, but there will always be people out there that have more followers, more revenue, etc. Keep your head down, work hard, and stay true to yourself, and the success that you are meant for will follow.
