Protect Your Heels With Blister-proof Socks - Shezza
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in clothing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tiffany Gil, Founder of Shezza, located in San Diego, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Shezza makes unique foam-padded socks that prevent painful heel blisters from new or hard-to-break-in shoes. Our customers are largely Doc Marten shoe owners and 13-36-year-old individuals who have a high interest in fashion.
Tell us about yourself
I first got the idea for Shezza 9 whole years ago. However, I had no idea how to start and run a company. All this time later, I met the right mentors and experts to guide me in the right direction and support me. My parents are small business owners, and I always knew I wanted to be my own boss someday. Now it feels surreal to have a successful business and a product that thousands of customers love!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Going viral multiple times on Tik Tok and gaining a large following of almost 18,000 followers in a matter of weeks. If it wasn't for our traction on TikTok, I truly don't know where I would be today.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Making sacrifices in terms of time, sleep, and your social life when first starting out. It gets better as time goes on but having a new startup will most definitely push you to your limits and outside of your comfort zone, which is a very good thing. You build grit, determination, and resilience throughout the process.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Constantly talk to potential customers, gather feedback, and pivot on your idea when necessary. You don't want to sell a product that no one wants.
- Write down your goals and keep a planner. You are 42 percent more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down. I've been using the Passion Planner for years and highly recommend it for the planner.
- Keep a positive attitude and believe in yourself. Know that failing is a part of the process. There will always be people who will doubt you, even when you are successful! Don't give them any attention, and keep doing your thing.
