What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are in the business of Adult Education, and our customers are: educators, parents, and individuals wishing to change their careers to Early Childhood Education.

Tell us about yourself

I worked for colleges as a Montessori Trainer for over ten years and realized I wanted to organize course content in a certain way that would make it user-friendly for the learner. This was just the beginning because when I did start my own training center and worked on developing the course content, I realized I had other strengths to share, which previously had been underutilized. What motivates me each day? I know I have gifts and talents to share, and I want to make a difference in the world. There is the only way to do it - to DO IT! Even if it is one individual at a time.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

  • Bringing the community a time-tested pedagogy and yet delivering it in a unique manner that has every student of ours say at the end of the course, "I wish there was more!"
  • Holding true to my values and ethics.
  • Managing multiple businesses and being part of the teaching team with exuberance.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

  • Being consistent in habits that lead to success
  • Staying strong through adversity
  • Finding a balance between cordial relationships with staff and doing right for the business - finding ways to communicate ideas in different ways

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your trade.
  2. Know your mission.
  3. Know marketing, start-up, and financials well.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I am a self-motivated individual with a warm personality that is very comforting to individuals that are shy or new in Canada. I am very strong in my values which helps my staff to trust me as their employer. I was nominated twice for the RBC Canada Women Entrepreneur.
