What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Varnish Nail Studio & Spa. My customers are women & men who enjoy exclusive personal grooming services in a relaxed and highly sanitized environment!
Tell us about yourself
I am a licensed nail technician (19 years) and a licensed aesthetician (2 years). I first got started working on my business after my children were born. They motivate me to keep going because of the freedom it provides us. This industry has allowed me to schedule my work around their needs.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
One of my biggest accomplishments so far in business is my registered trademark. I was able to register my business with the USPTO all on my own last year. Varnish Nail Studio™️
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is work-life balance. I have now realized that I can no longer do everything myself and that I need other people to help push my business goals forward.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My top tips are:
- Make sure that whatever you do that you have a passion for it. You will not survive if your sole motivation is money. It takes a while to see a return on your initial investment.
- Take care of yourself. You can not pour everything into your business or your family and not pour into yourself. It’s ok to take a day or week, or even a month off to rest and recharge. Entrepreneurial life is hard!
- Be consistent! Customers love this. It creates loyalty. I have some clients that have been with me more almost 20 years.
- Treat your customers how you would like to be treated!!!!
