Optimist, Author, and Thought Leader - Shaun Rawls

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Shaun Rawls, Founder and CEO of Rawls Consulting, located in Atlanta, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a real estate coach, consultant, owner/investor in real estate companies, real estate investor, and an author and speaker. My focus as a leader has always been to help people live their best life, both personally and professionally.

Tell us about yourself

Since stepping away from running the #1 residential real estate company in Georgia, my passion for helping people "morphed" into authoring my book, "F"-it-less: 18 "F" Words to Reframe and Repurpose Your Life. I didn't want so much of my experiences and insights to fade away, so writing this book became an overwhelming motivator for me to produce a legacy piece that would reach a whole new audience, inside and outside the world of real estate.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is (a) growing a real estate company from scratch into the largest, most productive real estate company in Georgia and (b) winning "Atlanta's Best Place to Work" for five years in a row. These are both equally important because, to me, they underscore the importance of building a business with the right culture.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It's difficult to say that "one" thing is the hardest. Having the systems that consistently produce the leads and opportunities you need is certainly important. And most certainly, dealing with the pains of growth is critically important. Finding and keeping the most talented people in your business, however, is most likely the hardest thing I see people struggle with the most.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Hire a coach. A great coach is the shortest route to who and where you want to be.
  2. Know your business (and the numbers that drive it) inside and out so you can quickly assess obstacles and opportunities.
  3. Most business problems and opportunities are best solved with a "who," not a "what."

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

My passion is in delivering empowering keynote speeches around my experiences and my book. Anyone looking to elevate a conference company event with easy-to-absorb and easy-to-implement improvements is my ideal customer. I'm so grateful for the success I've achieved in my life, and I never want to stop helping others produce their best life and work.
