What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are here to help our clients incorporate wellness into their lifestyles. We want them to feel and look their best, reminding them that self-care is in the form of massage, facials, and detox body wraps. Detox programs can be an integral part of their wellness journey.
Tell us about yourself
I started getting monthly massages about 15 years ago when I was in the corporate world. I noticed how much better I felt, not just physically but mentally. This prompted me to look into massage and start taking night classes at a holistic school that was in my neighborhood. A month in, I decided to complete the full curriculum and get my massage license. My instructor noticed I had a great touch and recommended I look into Esthetician school as well. A dual licensed therapist will never be out of work, she said. So, I followed her advice and, the following year, got my Esthetician license. I learned so much about how our skin reflects what is going on inside our bodies. Thus, it's not just what we use on our skin; it matters what we put in our bodies. I was drawn to transition careers, to do something I felt passionate about, and to be in an environment where I was thriving, inspired, and helping others.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Consistently having a team of talented practitioners who feel just as excited about helping others feel and look their best.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Disconnecting from the business on days off or when on vacation. Until the business is big enough to sustain managers who can completely run it for you, you may get calls on your days off or on vacation.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Create a detailed financial plan and have at least 12-months of cash flow in the first three years to allow yourself the time needed to create a successful business.
- Have a marketing budget and understand that if you don't spend on marketing, it will be very difficult to grow a successful business.
- Find and grow talented people on an ongoing basis; they will be your most valuable asset.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I trust I'm on the right path, and Entrepreneurship is completely worth the time and energy!
