What's your business, and who are your customers?
Serenbe Farms is a certified organic farm located in the Serenbe community and surrounded by the rural oasis of the Chattahoochee Hill Country, just 30 miles southwest of Atlanta. Organic farmers at Serenbe, customers are the community and surrounding area.
Tell us about yourself
I grew up outside Washington, D.C., and spent my summers in the woods of the Shenandoah Valley foraging, fishing, and connecting with nature. Both my father and grandfather are chefs. This taught me the importance of ingredients, but it was my grandmother, Marion, who taught me at the age of eight an introduction to horticulture in the form of caring for her prized English roses. I have been a farmer for 13 years. My beginning started with a missional food ministry. The community and doing what I love to motivate me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Growing a wide variety of veggies. We have over 35 different varieties planted most of the year.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a farmer, it's usually always the things outside your control. Weather, pest, deer pressure...
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- All in or not in at all.
- Surround yourself with like-minded, positive people.
- Invest in yourself and the people around you.
