Connecting With Your Intended Audience - SEO Cafe
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jordana Abitbol, Founder of SEO Cafe, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
At SEO Cafe, we work with small to medium-sized businesses connecting them with their intended audiences through Search Engine Marketing. Working with businesses from a variety of different industries, bringing more relevant traffic to their website to increase sales, leads, and other conversions that are important to their business.
Tell us about yourself
I started my career working as an SEO Account Manager at a Digital Marketing Agency. I fell in love with the complexity of SEO as a whole and enjoyed the "never-ending learning curve" as Google updates its algorithm roughly 500 times a year. I am always motivated to keep up my learning and education as it is easy to fall behind when there are so many strategies, tools, and best practices to keep up with. Each day I am so grateful to my clients for trusting me with their businesses, and that's what truly keeps me motivated and ready to serve.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment would be having reached my max capacity in clients in my first year in business. Also that I have attained all of my clients through word of mouth and referrals.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The most difficult part is that you are in this alone (if you are the sole business owner). I have hired many contractors/freelancers by now, but it's something you have to take into consideration. If you're okay with doing hard things alone and not having support to turn to for advice or help, then this path may work for you!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be Disciplined: you really have to show your clients/customers they can trust you and gain value from working with you, so you have to REALLY put in the work.
- Practise Mindfulness: it is SO easy to get stuck in your own head with imposter syndrome, doubt, stress, pressure, etc... so it is very important you take care of yourself mentally to perform at your best for yourself and for your clients
- Keep Learning: it may be hard to carve out the time when you're deep in your business, but you should always make time to sharpen your skills and keep up with your industry so that you can keep attracting more clients.
