Semantic Valley - Alex Genadinik
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alex Genadinik, Founder of Semantic Valley LLC., located in Hoboken, NJ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business focuses on providing education to entrepreneurs and professionals. The main business is focused on providing education to individuals.
Another and almost equal part of my business is to help small and mid-size businesses develop their own e-learning programs through content licensing. Here is the link to learn more about that.
Tell us about yourself
My college degree is in Computer Science. After college, I worked for a number of companies as a software engineer but didn't feel that this career path excited me. What excited me was pursuing my own ideas, so I started working on them. After a number of them failed, I created mobile apps that helped entrepreneurs overcome initial struggles which I myself faced. Those apps did well, and that led to creating educational materials for entrepreneurs, which is what I have been doing for 10+ years now.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being financially independent and being able to fund all my creative projects. My biggest passion project is actually music, which you can find here. Music loses money, and I don't try to earn any money from it. What I get from it is enrichment for my inner life, which I feel is much more important than business or financial accomplishments.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Constant stress and constantly having to fend off competition. In the beginning, the hardest thing is to believe in yourself through an environment of constant failure and to make it past that.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be persistent in the beginning.
- Constantly allocate time and effort to improve your skills (not just do the same thing you're doing).
- Get as much help as possible from coaches, mentors, and people you hire as employees or freelancers.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Despite the struggle of entrepreneurship, it's still much better than having a 9-5 job, so I would not regret it.
