What's your business, and who are your customers?
SD Event Production is a boutique, full-service event planning company specializing in corporate meetings and events, weddings, nonprofit events, celebrations of life, and high-end social events. Our clients are anyone who wants to party stress-free!
Tell us about yourself
My business partner and I have been in the events industry for many years. During the lockdown of 2020, we started talking about what we wanted out of our lives and our careers, and SDEP was born! Our goal is to take as much stress off of people's shoulders as possible, whether you are planning a corporate meeting, wedding, social event, or anything else! Our passion and love for what we do and for our clients keep us going day in and day out.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner would be just that - starting my own business! It can be scary and stressful to do this, but I jumped in with both feet and haven't looked back!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
For me, the hardest part is the back-end, no-fun tasks - paperwork, taxes, permits, etc.! My eyes tend to glaze over when too many numbers are involved. My brain thrives on creativity and being on-site with my vendors and clients - but you can't have one without the other!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your research! There are tons of helpful resources online with checklists of the things you will need to start your own company.
- Follow your heart. Focus on doing what you love, and your clients and partners will feel that and gravitate towards that. Success will follow.
- Just do it! You will never regret the things you do, only the things you didn't do. Take the leap!
