What's your business, and who are your customers?
SBC (Small Business Consulting) is a consulting/support firm that focuses on helping small businesses succeed. We love nothing more than helping excited entrepreneurs bring their business dreams to reality. We understand that one motivated mind simply can't do it all alone, and that's why we're here. We individually work with you every step of the way, providing the advice, resources, and support you need to start thriving. After years of working for large corporations, our team now takes great pride and satisfaction in doing good for the underdogs.
Tell us about yourself
As President of SBC, I provide strong leadership and positive influence on my team daily. After completing my business and economics degree, I got my MBA focusing on business strategies. I also earned several other certifications, including a Six Sigma Black Belt and Intuit ProAdvisor. These accomplishments, combined with over 25 years in business operations and an unparalleled work ethic, have led me to be a successful business advisor. After almost 15 years working for a large corporation, I realized my true passion was providing consultation for small businesses, resulting in the birth of SBC. For more than ten years, I have provided countless small businesses with invaluable advice, allowing them to streamline workflows, increase efficiencies and realize their full potential. SBC earned the Best of Western New York Award in the Business Consultant category for the past four years, making the company eligible for the hall of fame award.
Aside from being the Owner and President of SBC, I have other businesses. In 2009, I published my first book, which topped out at number 3 on Amazon's weekly best-sellers in business. I shared many of my experiences creating a successful business and having a happy and fulfilling life in this book. During my free time, I prioritize spending time with my sons, Tyler and Dylan, and my wife, Nicole. I coach football, hockey, lacrosse, wrestling, and baseball to bond with my boys to share every possible minute of their youth.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Anyone that starts a business knows how difficult it is to get off the ground. To start from nothing and end up with a successful business would be an accomplishment for anyone. For SBC, not only did we start a business, but we optimized the business to such a level that we can now use our success to help others. Every time we are able to help small business owner improve their business and life, we get to enjoy their success with them. A handshake, a smile, and a thank you are almost as valuable to us as the payment for services.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The biggest hurdle and most difficult mindset to get past when becoming a business owner is the concern that you are at the top of the ladder. There is nobody to back you up; there is nobody to pay you if the business doesn't succeed and the weight of the business is on your shoulders. It is extremely stressful and difficult to handle, but when you succeed, you will have an amazing sense of freedom and accomplishment. It is worth every drop of sweat.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Make sure you use the resources available instead of trial and error. Start small to keep everything under control as you grow. There will be bumps in the road, but don't let them get you down.

Fortune favors the bold. Don't look back at your life with a bunch of "what ifs."
