Be Beautiful Be Sassy - Sassy Doll Studio
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in beauty and cosmetics but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Traci Thompson, owner of Sassy Doll Studio, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a small beauty studio. We offer all nail services and eyelash extensions. Some eyebrow and lip tattooing. We are not the Average beauty studio. We do not rush our clients when they have an appointment. We believe in quality over quantity in our salon. Most salons nowadays are about how many clients they can do within an hour we're not like that. Most of our appointments are about 45 minutes or longer.
Tell us about yourself
In a previous job, I had worked for some bad bosses, which led me to work on my own business. I can't remember ever having a good boss. I like to make women feel good about themselves. Additionally, I only hire single mothers who need to learn a trade.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Just getting my business started is my biggest accomplishment. It's a lot of work opening a beauty salon.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Keeping my new team members motivated. It is hard when they are building up the clientele. It takes about a year the build up a good base of clientele.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
To never give up on themselves. To talk to people in the friends and family grow to help them. Don't do it alone. Everyone needs help. Don't be afraid to ask for it.
