Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sari Mabe, Owner of The Anchored Group Counseling and Wellness, located in Ormond Beach, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business offers a variety of counseling and wellness services to individuals and families who are struggling to get through their stuck points. Whether it be from past trauma, unmet expectations, parenting challenges, anxiety, or marital issues, we offer a variety of services to meet each client where they are.
Tell us about yourself
I am a licensed mental health counselor. I got intrigued by the field of psychology when I entered college and took my first psych course. I get the absolute most joy out of seeing someone relieved of their unwanted symptoms.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is my work-life balance. Owning my own company has afforded me the opportunity to thrive in all aspects of my life while still providing an income source.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is not having the safety umbrella of an agency. It only takes one angry client/customer to write negative reviews and tarnish a reputation you've worked decades to establish.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Go for it! Although there is anxiety in working for yourself, there is also an immense amount of freedom.
- Create a business plan, mission, and vision. This will be your guiding force when decision-making. Be careful not to stray too far without updating it to ensure you are headed in the direction you want to go in.
- Be confident! Know what you have to offer and be confident in selling yourself/product to others, then follow through with that greatness.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Don't let fear be your driving force. There will be bumps and challenges along the way; however, use those as teaching tools for your future self and success.
