Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in freelancing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sarah Weiler, a content creator and social media strategist based in Albuquerque, NM, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an artist and marketing strategist with a passion for creative problem-solving. My diverse work includes creating content and copy for brands, managing socials, and web design, among other things. I work with aspiring entrepreneurs and brands looking to create a close-knit community driven by connection.

Tell us about yourself

I believe there is always a story to be told and that content will always serve a higher purpose in connecting and relating to any audience. My ultimate goal is to inspire and create communities. Social media doesn't have to be a hindrance to human connection, and both vulnerability and transparency are nothing to be afraid of. My love and care for my work show through in my and my client's work, and the root of my motivation is knowing that I am making a difference in others' lives and businesses.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Connecting with others will always be the biggest possible accomplishment. Through forming relationships with others, there is much opportunity to learn from one another and create long-lasting collaborations.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Mastering the mindset surrounding success has proved time and time again to be the biggest obstacle in business. It is hard to effectively move forward with big ideas while simultaneously believing that you do not deserve to be successful. You are worthy of the dreams you have.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Prioritize education. This does not have to be formal education. With this in mind, always expand your mind.
  2. Remember that you will only be as successful as you will allow yourself to be. Don't let your self-doubts limit your creativity.
  3. Yes, you have competition, but your competition is irrelevant when it comes to your strategy. Before you do anything, find your "why." What makes you different?
