What's your business, and who are your customers?

Owner of Sarah Shiplett Yoga, a concierge yoga company that brings yoga to you. I specialize in private, group, and corporate events and wellness packages. With a passion for teaching the science and wellbeing of yoga, specialties include vinyasa flow of all levels from powerful to gentle, meditative movement, meditation, and mindfulness.

Tell us about yourself

I began teaching yoga in 2013 after a trip to India inspired me to lean into teacher training. I started with Lifetime that same year and fell in love with the culture and community. Yoga inspires, creates, and manages those little places in our lives and our hearts that need to open just a little more. When we open our hearts, we open our life up to such joy. It all starts on the mat, and slowly a transformation will unfold. My family and I are based in Allen, TX, with my husband and two children. I have a MA in Advertising from SMU, a mom blogger for Collin County Moms. I hope to see you on the mat soon. Follow me on my Instagram @Sarah Shiplett

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping people is my goal.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Learning when I say yes and when to say no. I tend to take on a lot of projects, and this year I’m making sure everything aligns with where I’m trying to go.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start today. Don’t wait until things are perfect. I couldn’t wait until the audio and visuals were excellent in a digital yoga business. I just started teaching. Time after time, I think quality content moved from a place of live beats professionally shot content that is not created with heart.
  2. Be vulnerable.
  3. Align yourself with women that want to be in your corner. If you don’t see women around you rooting for you, go find a different table.
