Rebellious Women Empowerment Therapy - Sarah Jurrens
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sarah Jurrens, Founder of Rebellious Women Empowerment Therapy LLC., located in Portland, OR, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an LPC Associate, and I currently run a private counseling practice based in Portland, OR. All my sessions are online so that I can serve anyone residing in Oregon, regardless of their location. I provide therapy for individuals and will soon be taking on couples. I specialize in treating anxiety, trauma, depression, and OCD. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which alleviates many systems related to trauma and anxiety, amongst other issues. I also offer online self-paced self-help packages on my website. So far, the topics include Social Anxiety, Depression, and getting to know yourself better through an introspective journey.
Tell us about yourself
I knew that I could provide more quality service to my clients if I started a private practice. I knew it would give me the freedom to keep a smaller caseload so that I could give my clients the care and attention they deserve. I am so passionate about my job and love to see my clients make progress and start feeling better. It is the most rewarding job I could ask for.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Creating my own website was a huge accomplishment. I had never done anything quite like it, but I am very proud of my work; I got so good at it... I created a second one! I am also so proud of the work I do, and I am so grateful to be able to help people on their journey. Being able to combine my passion for helping others while supporting my family has been an intense joy!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The uncertainty of income. As with all businesses, things ebb and flow. Also, putting myself out there and being vulnerable with my passions can be a bit scary, but when I connect with a client, it makes all the risk worth it. Oh, and marketing! Which I guess ties both of my previous issues with owning a business together. Marketing can be really hard.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Reach out to others for support and guidance. Those with experience can be invaluable but also, be sure to listen to your own instincts!
