Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in clothing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sarah Atlee, Founder of Sarah Atlee Makes Art, located in Oklahoma City, OK, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an improvisational quilter who helps you tell your story through quilts. I work with clients from all walks of life who are passionate about personal style and artist-made goods.
Tell us about yourself
I've been a professional artist for over 25 years. Making art is how I speak my truth. My studio is a place where all external concerns fall away, and I let the materials speak through me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I am fortunate enough to have a beautiful network of friends, colleagues, and collectors who are vocal supporters of my work.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Right now, I'm a solopreneur, which means I wear all the hats. I often feel there just aren't enough hours in the day.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Find smart people whose ethics you admire, follow them, and never be afraid (or too proud) to ask for help.
