Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sara Wiseman, a visionary teacher of spiritual intuition based in Portland, OR, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I teach spiritual awakening using the tools of spiritual intuition. Some of these include meditation, nature, diving deep into one's own history, and becoming aware that the Universe is always communicating with us in all the ways this can happen. My customers are spiritual seekers from all over the world who seek alternatives to traditional religions or structures with a lot of rules. The path of spiritual awakening is incredibly personal—each person will do it in their own way. So I offer some ways of looking at the process and the support of a kindred, inclusive community of people interested in this work.
Tell us about yourself
It is a calling that I have known since I was a child. I had a profound opening in awareness in 2000, and after that, I was a bit lost and could not find anyone to answer the questions that I had about this process of spiritual awakening. I began to explore on my own, and I started to teach what I had discovered. I am motivated each day because I see how helpful this work is to other seekers, and there are a lot of us all over the world. My goal is to create a safe community for spiritual explorers.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishments are in the creation of a safe, inclusive community for spiritual explorers and in offering original books, courses, training, podcasts, and videos that show people how to approach the work of intuitive development and spiritual awakening, either free or at an affordable price.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
With an online business, it can be difficult to stay current with new social media and technology. It takes discernment to determine if a change is for the better or just a distraction.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't do it for the money. This is your life, so only work on what you really love.
- Bigger is not better. Choosing to keep your business small is a valid and fun choice.
- Your intuition is your biggest business tool.
