Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sapphira Hunt, Founder of Lead Hunter Consulting LLC, located in Winter Garden, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I run a lead generation company that helps brands market to their target audience and promote brand growth. We specialize in Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing, and Custom Built Websites/Apps.

Tell us about yourself

I started three years ago working in a call center for a solar company. I learned the process of converting leads to appointments and talked with media buyers on our team, who showed me the ins and outs of developing ad campaigns. From there, my fiancé and I started a window/door replacement company that only lasted a year. We failed miserably at it, but it taught me a lot of the administrative and business management tasks needed to run a business.

From there, I learned about UX Design, Web Development, and Coding. I freelanced for a little bit, so I could get a few contracts to build my portfolio. Once I had a good amount of experience under my belt, I started my own company. It took me about a year to do so.

Every day I get up, I try to push myself to do better for my family. I'm really motivated by the thought of having free time to spend with my loved ones. Obviously, no one wants to work forever, so I try to ensure that any decisions I make can lead me to the result of being financially well-off.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have only had a few accomplishments in my business so far due to how new it is. I would definitely say having magazines like Subkit reach out to me is the biggest thus far. It feels good knowing that there are people who see me, the work I'm doing, and actively helping me to push forward!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Hustling! It's really a mindset thing. I think most people shy away from the idea of being an entrepreneur because it requires a lot of uncertainty and risk. It's easy to get trapped in the 9 to 5 gig because it always has a safety net for financial security, whereas entrepreneurship doesn't. It's results-oriented. Although you might not know, waking up every morning and pushing forward requires discipline, focus, and grit.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Stay disciplined: You'll get further than most people by simply seeing tasks through to the end. Most people aren't willing to do this, and if you want something that not everyone has, you have to be willing to do things not everyone will.
  2. Lean on your resources: Before I started a business, I was the type of person to hear "NO" and take it as an answer, never really questioning or finding ways to get around the problem. A business teaches you a lot about accountability because, at the end of the day, everything comes back on you!
  3. Don't be afraid to fail: Failure will teach you bigger lessons than any mountaintop ever could. It's okay if things don't work out the first time! Get back up and try again!
