Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sandra Adcock, Founder of LDA Enterprises Inc., located in Dallas, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
As a personal coach specializing in Burnout, I help burned-out entrepreneurs and overachievers recalibrate and restore so they can find their way back to enjoying a meaningful life - at work and in their personal lives.
Tell us about yourself
I've been a personal coach for over twenty years. And as I look back over my coaching career, I see that the one thing all my clients have in common is burnout. No matter the dream they were pursuing – rebuilding their life, starting a business, expanding an existing business, writing a book, transitioning into a new career. Or the adversity they faced – marriage issues, financial distress, failing business, giving up on their dream, spiritual confusion, betrayal, rejection. The one thing they all had in common was burnout. Overwhelmed and exhausted. Mentally and emotionally disconnected. Efficacy severely diminished. Add to that, my own experience with severe burnout has inspired me to help other entrepreneurs and overachievers recover from burnout. Lastly, I'm a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, so other survivors are near and dear to my heart. We are kindred souls. I wake up every day with them in my heart. And so, in addition to my other content and resources, I create content and resources just for them to give them Post Traumatic Hope.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I've been an entrepreneur since I was 28. I had one goal back then - to help other people's dreams come true. And even now, at 62, I'm still just as passionate and driven towards the same exact goal.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The life of an entrepreneur is filled with adversity. So often, you can't know precisely the right direction to head without taking a risk.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- God is always preparing us for what's next, so ask him to guide you toward his purposes for your life.
- Make sure that the business you want to pursue aligns with who you are, what you believe in, and what you love.
- Think about contribution first instead of how much money you want to make. How can you add value to other people's lives - that's the secret sauce to a meaningful life. Money will follow.
