What's your business, and who are your customers?
Salt City Lashes is an upscale lash studio catering to women on the go in and around downtown Salt Lake City. We offer our services in a convenient location so you can get your beauty services done on your lunch break! We offer extended evening and weekend hours to meet our clients' scheduling needs. Tell us about yourself
I am a single mom to 4 and a multi-business owner/entrepreneur. I started Salt City Lashes in 2014 to provide for my family while still being a full-time mom to my kids. I love what I do and the women I interact with daily.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have been able to offer an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to not only my clients but also to my co-workers. Being a single mom and business owner has inspired me to help other single/working moms achieve the same goal of a healthy work/life balance where family is the focus.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest part of being a business owner is accepting the fact that no matter how hard you try, you cannot make everyone happy. Sometimes you are put in complicated situations where you have to disappoint someone, and those judgments can sometimes be hard to make.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Decide what is important to you, and try to make all of your decisions with those bigger goals in mind. Not everyone's vision of success will be the same. Decide what success looks like for you and make sure that everything you're doing aligns with that end goal or you'll never get there.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Don't get caught up in competition. Focus on being the best you can be and try your best not to compare yourself to others. We all have different strengths and weaknesses and you can only change what you are doing and how well you do it.
