Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kelsey O'Neal, Founder of Sales Queen Sisterhood, located in Columbia, SC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The Sales Queen Sisterhood is a community of saleswomen who are creating financial freedom for themselves and their families by serving through selling. Inside our free Facebook group, we offer free sales training, interviews with top-performing sales associates, and opportunities to connect with like-minded friends.

We serve these women by offering coaching programs to sharpen their sales skills, and we specialize in teaching sales pros how to leverage social media to generate leads and close sales in the DMs.

We also offer financial coaching to help women learn how to leverage their great money and manage it well, so they can build wealth and create true financial freedom!

Tell us about yourself

I began my career in non-profit fundraising, teaching ministry workers how to raise the funds they needed to accomplish their mission. From there, I moved into the world of online marketing and used what I knew about the skill of influence (sales) to sell business services.

I created The Sales Queen Sisterhood because I saw the lack of community for women in sales and that sales are still primarily a male-dominated profession.

My daily motivation comes from my desire to see women understand that sales aren't a dirty word and that it is a great vehicle to serve people while making great money. I want every woman to realize that the skill of sales is a superpower and will allow them to create financial security and freedom for their family.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is helping over 1000 women connect to a network of like-minded, ambitious women who view sales as a way to truly serve others and offer them transformational products and services.

In our community, friendships are born, incomes are elevated, and we are constantly encouraged to be the best version of ourselves possible to share our gifts with the world.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is carrying the weight of expectations from your team, customers, and yourself. I always strive to do my best, but I'm human and will inevitably fail in one way or another. I try to remind myself that I do my best as long as I'm operating with integrity and genuinely showing up to serve others.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

If you're thinking about growing a business, first, you need to identify where your skillset and the people's needs intersect. You will see people's problems that you are uniquely gifted to solve.

Second, I recommend starting an online, service-based business rather than a brick-and-mortar or product-based one because the overhead is almost nonexistent. You are positioned to be profitable quickly and easily scalable.

Third, don't try to figure it out on your own. Find a mentor, invest in a business coach who has accomplished what you want to achieve, and commit to learning from them.
