What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a mobile makeup and hairstyling team that mostly serves the Vancouver and Fraser Valley areas specializing in weddings! Our highly skilled team is super passionate about helping women feel beautiful as well as enhance their already beautiful features.

Something we value is lighter makeup applications; however, we can do more full coverage without having caked-on, heavy makeup applications.
Most of our clients come to us because they don't wear a lot of makeup and still want to look like themselves. Our artists will listen to your needs and create a look that is just right for you! I personally specialize in the use of safer, cruelty-free, and vegan products, so you don't have to compromise your ethics for your makeup application.

Quite recently, I have also started teaching others to use their own makeup! It has been quite a fun journey helping women learn how to use their own products properly to get the results they crave and save money from buying the wrong stuff.

Tell us about yourself

I have had a huge passion for makeup since high school and attended the Blanche MacDonald Centre shortly after for my diploma in Makeup Artistry. That was back in 2006. It wasn't until 2013 that I figured out my passion in this industry. It started to switch to clean beauty products and started focusing on weddings and beauty makeup. I have now become obsessed with reading ingredients to ensure I am offering you the cleanest, most luxurious products on your skin.

I am also a mom with two young children. Having a flexible schedule has allowed me to spend more time with them and show them it's possible to work smart doing what you love to earn an income.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Bringing confidence to my clients for their special events or photoshoot. It feels good to help others feel good about themselves! Also, being able to leave my job to pursue my dreams so I can do what I love on my own terms and get paid for it.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

At first, it was learning how to say no...Now it's wearing all the hats and learning to outsource.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do lots of mindset work because the right mindset is everything to have a successful business that doesn't consume every hour of your life.
  2. Focus on 1 or 2 things you're good at and get really good at them before even considering introducing something else.
  3. Your friends and family will likely not be your biggest supporters or customers. Find a great group of entrepreneurs you can connect with to grow together.
