Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ryan Giles, Co-Owner of RFG Plumbing & RFG Electrical, located in Essex, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Our business is Plumbing & Electrical. Our customers are wonderful people in our community throughout Windsor/Essex county. Our customer base is made up of residential, commercial, industrial, property management companies, and multiple business owners.
Tell us about yourself
In September 2016, my father, brother, and I developed the concept of RFG Plumbing in the laundry room of our house. We wanted to bring a better, innovative, and new aged Plumbing business to Windsor/Essex County. My father wanted both of us, his sons, to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, father, and himself. Throughout the 7 years of business, my brother and I have gotten our Plumbing Licenses and became the 4th Generation of Plumbers in the Giles Family. What motivates us every day is the passion, drive, and expertise we have in the Plumbing Industry. Being able to resolve any plumbing problem we have faced throughout the last 7 years, making our customers happy, and building a great company with an amazing team.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment as business owners is building a world-class team ready to take on any challenge. Our team works well together; we find solutions to any problem we have faced.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Just like any business, we all have good days and bad; we all have wins and losses. In some of those moments, we may not always see the light at the end of the tunnel, but if we push forward and work as a team. We always pull through.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Three tips that helped me grow our business to what it is today.
- Be willing to take on any role in your business,
- NEVER GIVE UP; ALWAYS PUSH FORWARD.
- Don't be afraid to fail; learn from your mistakes and grow from them.
